Cooper/Smith
Lead Data Strategist
United States

Andrea is the Lead Data Strategist at Cooper/Smith where she advises governments and partners on technology for frontline workers. In her role she guides decision-makers to determine what the right solution is for them and conducts operational research on data use, data governance, and data systems. For the past 3 years she has provided technical assistance to the Kuunika Project, a project with the Malawian Ministry of Health and Population on improving the use of routine data systems for HIV service delivery.

Prior to joining Cooper/Smith, Andrea held a variety of roles at Dimagi, a social enterprise that develops last mile solutions, where she deployed mobile health projects around the world. These projects ranged from small-scale pilots to Ministry of Health-backed national implementations. Her primary focus was on building mobile applications and SMS systems that strengthen health systems in low-resource settings including programs in Ebola response and recovery, HIV/AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children, maternal and child health, malnutrition, and cardiovascular disease. She has led projects to build integrated applications with electronic medical record systems, business intelligence tools, biometric scanners, and national health informatics systems.

Andrea holds a BA from Washington & Jefferson College in Bioethics, an MPH from Emory University in Global Health, and is currently a DrPH candidate in the department of Epidemiology and Population Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
