Rebecca Distler is Director of Global Health Initiatives at Element, Inc., where she helps partners use mobile biometrics to create a digital identity for patients and provide access to health care. In this role, she also co-leads the BioNIC initiative, a collaboration with the Global Good Fund, icddr,b in Bangladesh, and Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia to develop the world’s first infant biometrics platform, for use in birth registration, vaccination and child health programs.

Prior to Element, Rebecca was a manager at Global Health Strategies, where she supported the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Grand Challenges team and helped lead international advocacy efforts on R&D funding, neglected tropical diseases and antimicrobial resistance for Grand Challenges Africa, the Gates Foundation, and WHO amongst others. She previously worked with the Clinton Global Initiative, the WHO Regional Office in Fiji, the U.S. State Department and the Yale Global Health Leadership Institute in Ghana, where she developed a mental health training program adopted nationally in 2012.

Rebecca holds a BA in Political Science from Yale University and an MPH in Health Policy Management and Global Health from the Yale School of Public Health.
