Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (known by his popular nickname KTR) is a devout public servant.  His vision and passion for taking Telangana to the heights of development have marked his political career. He has been relentless in streamlining his portfolio and addressing the multi-dimensional requirements of the IT industry. Under his leadership Telangana has embarked on several innovative programs that are making Telangana a leader in harnessing the power of technology for its citizens.  These include:

• T-Hub. The T-Hub is fast becoming the largest center for startups and entrepreneurship in India.  The sole goal of this prestigious center is to build a Tech Ecosystem in Hyderabad that nurtures young dynamic entrepreneurs.  T-Hub aspires to make Telangana the most investor-friendly state by providing needed facilities and removing avoidable delays in any new project launch.
• TASK. The Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) was formed to address the problems of unemployment in Telangana. The aim of TASK is to provide readily employable graduates to address Telangana’s business community needs by improving their skills and knowledge. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between industry expectations and available skill sets.
• Hy-Fi: The Hy-Fi program is focused on making Hyderabad the first Wi-Fi enabled city in India, thus promoting Hyderabad as a Global Lifestyle Destination. This initiative enhances Hyderabad’s current position as the second largest exporter of IT within India. It also enables KTR’s vision of putting global information at the fingertips of the citizens of Hyderabad.

KTR has been representing the Sircilla Assembly Constituency since 2009. After completing his MBA, he worked as an IT Professional for six years – from 2001 to 2006. His observation of political activism as a child, his international exposure as a student, and his strategic role as IT professional have shaped his critical career. He became the full-time TRS activist in the year 2006. His persistence and his inclination to fight for the deprived won him wide support in the political arena and enabled him to drive convergence at all levels of government from grass-root level workers to national level leaders around a common vision for Telangana. He actively participated in the Telangana movement between 2009 and 2014.

KTR holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from Nizam College, Hyderabad. He has two post-graduate degrees, a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from the University of Pune and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and E-Commerce from Baruch College of the City University of New York.
