There has been a dramatic proliferation of mobile apps to support frontline health workers in low income countries. However, because many of these apps are custom built for specific organizations and projects, their cost on a per user basis is high and because each app is developed as a stand-alone tool, it is difficult to develop the support systems needed to make the tool effective and sustainable. What the field needs is not more apps; what is needed is systems thinking and solutions to strengthen all levels of the health system.

To address this need, D-tree International is launching their Digital Global Health product line. These products are a culmination of more than 10 years of experience designing, developing and implementing effective digital global health projects to improve the quality of healthcare delivery at the point of care.

These proven, turnkey products provide organizations with all of the tools needed to customize, deploy and sustain digital health systems for use by frontline health workers, supervisors and program managers with minimal up-front costs and effort. Each product comes with a basic package which includes:
  • Health worker mobile application
  • Supervisor mobile application
  • Pre-built dashboard
  • System server infrastructure
  • Capacity building in D-tree’s Engaged mHealth methodology to:
    • Modify and maintain the digital health system independently
    • Train health workers and supervisors
    • Utilize proven, standard processes and tools to effectively monitor and support users
  • In-person and remote support from the D-tree team
D-tree also offer a range of customization services to tailor the digital health system to your project scope and budget. Customizations include additional in-person design and training support; modifications to the mobile app content and workflow; government reports; additional data analytics; integration with DHIS-2, mobile money or biometrics; and health worker motivation schemes such as pay for performance or gamification.

The product line currently consists of 6 digital health systems for use by health workers in the community and health facility, which can be combined to offer integrated service delivery:

Community-level digital health systems:
  • Reproductive Health
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Community Case Management (CCM)
Facility-level digital health systems:
  • Maternal and Newborn Care
  • Integrated Management of Childhood Illness
  • Emergency Referral System
During this session, you will learn about D-tree’s new Digital Global Health product line to support organizations to implement their own effective and sustainable digital health programs.
