During the lifecycle of a project, organizations collect data from beneficiaries that helps them shape future iterations of their project or helps them with policy advocacy. Too often, these conversations end up being one-sided and, as a result, beneficiary input declines over time because they don’t know how their data is being used or whether the questions they have answered are creating any lasting change.

At VOTO Mobile, we have found that closing the feedback loop – by showing beneficiaries how their feedback has helped shape larger conversations – can be very effective for keeping them engaged in projects while simultaneously improving accountability on the organization side. During this session, I will present on how organizations can use IVR and SMS technology to strengthen the feedback loop in projects across the development sector, with case studies from Ghana to Pakistan, so that traditionally marginalized voices are truly included and understand their contribution in shaping decisions.
